I met Delvin last year while I was involved in a men’s recovery house program.  Delvin led me in morning groups to facilitate me and my recovery with group counseling.  He taught me about the Twelve Steps of Recovery, guided and coached me on living One Day at a Time and inspired and led me on a process of learning and self-discovery about myself, my assets, my defects, and how to live a humble, confident, and successful recovery life One day at a time.

Delvin teaches and encourages me still in my recovery by continuing care with me in his monitoring program, where he continues to counsel me and check in with me throughout the week.  While I have left the men’s recovery house. I still receive services from Delvin in the forms of counseling, drug tests, meeting attendance check-ins, and sponsor relationship maintenance.  I am a student now completing my junior year of college courses and I work a full-time job.  I live in a house in Asheville, NC with two dogs.  I attend meetings, work, go to school, take care of my dogs, communicate with my sponsor, and help others.  The sober, free, successful, and happy life that I live now is a direct result of the work that I have done and do daily.  Delvin has taught and reminds me that anything I put before my recovery I will lose.  Delvin teaches me that I must share my experience, strength, and hope with others to maintain my personal recovery.  Delvin is an example to me because he lives a life that I try to model in recovery.  He is sober, has a family and supports others in their early paths to recovery.  He continues to support me on my path to recovery.  Life happens daily, I encounter challenges and face life on life’s terms.  My personal recovery program is aided, supported, and encouraged by my work with Delvin Kenion!

Over the past 2 years, I have had the good fortune to work with Delvin in a couple different capacities. In the past 2 years Delvin has helped guide my family and myself through the process of recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Delvin's experience and understanding of issues I’m going through has help steer me through the past 2 years of my life. My relationship with my family has completely transformed as a result of Delvin’s continued work with them, and we are all incredibly grateful for that. I can honestly say Delvin has been the most impactful person to my recovery and has been a guiding force to helping me achieve long term sobriety. Having someone to be able to call 24/7 when challenges arrive in my life, and knowing that they truly care about me has meant absolutely everything to me. My family and I can not recommend Delvin enough.

Where would I be without Delvin's program. I feel unjudged and always cared for in the program. In the past I would get an angry response for relapsing and not doing what I was supposed to be doing. Delvin is the first person I’ve met that does not respond with an angry or demeaning response, he responds with love and care. I can literally talk to him about anything and to have that outlet available has made the whole difference. Life, outside of treatment facilities, is difficult for me sometimes so to talk with someone who has been where I have been and can relate to me gives me hope that I also can succeed. Delvin has helped me immensely to the point where if I was not in his program I probably would not be doing what I am today which is actually living a life with a purpose and happiness. Delvin is like no other counselor that I have met and I’m glad God has blessed me to cross paths with him.

Delvin Kenion has been working as a counselor with our son in one capacity or another since May 2016. Delvin keeps us well-informed regarding our son’s progress and potential triggers, provides timely and accurate reports, and has consistently provided us with insightful and useful advice. As a result of his steady, caring, compassionate and, when required, direct and disciplined approach, our son has made tremendous progress and has remained sober for quite some time. We are incredibly grateful for the way he has mentored and genuinely cared for our son, and we could not recommend him more highly.

Connections has been a wonderful tool to help navigate the ever changing waters of daily life that challenge people like our son, coming out of a structured environment back into the real world. Delvin’s loving support, knowledge, and timely responses have been invaluable in keeping our son focused and accountable. What a blessing!

Heartfelt Gratitude, Susan and Stephen

Connections and Delvin were a God-sent blessing for my son and family. The most difficult period in recovery is when you leave in-patient treatment and the structure of community housing and move into the real world. Most are on a good path at this point but are still in a fragile and perilous position. Though independent and sober, most can benefit from continued structure and maintenance. Delvin and Connections have provided that bridge and safety net for my son. They are professional, thorough, knowledgeable, dependable and trustworthy. But most importantly, they truly care about those who they are supervising and their families. I would highly recommend Connections and Delvin to any family concerned about seeing their loved ones continue on a positive path to recovery.

Delvin has been working with my 19-year old son for over 8 months.  He has had a grounding effect on my son by counseling him as an individual and encouraging his best. He also keeps in close contact with me regarding my son's recovery, and overall, his well-being.  I have been able to talk about my concerns and his responses are honest and constructive. Though I give my son full credit for all his hard work during his recovery, I know that Delvin has had and continues to have an intricate part in helping him and my family.  I am grateful for his counseling and I recommend him to any family struggling with addiction.

Delvin has worked with me and my son through every transitional stage, from entering sober living after residential treatment all the way through independent living, and everything in between. When my son relapsed, it was Connections that intervened, found treatment and even provided the sober transport. Not only did their support relieve me of having to fly out to Asheville, it made my son accountable for his life in the process. They stayed in touch with the treatment center, with my son and with me, continuing to provide emotional support and insight about his progress. Relapse is an emotional time for families, but Delvin’s confidence and reassurances eased my doubts and fears, allowing me to make decisions from a place of strength instead of chaos. He is caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. His practical insight has fostered not just my son’s growth, but mine as well. Delvin has been a consistent presence in my and my son’s life, one that I continue to be grateful for. I would recommend Connections to anyone trying to find their way through addiction.
